Sponsoring a child is an incredible experience. You can easily exchange letters and photos with your sponsored child and see how much your support is transforming their life and the lives of those around them. 

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

In Uganda, it is free to attend school. However, families need money to pay for uniform, stationery, textbooks, school lunch and other resources. If a family can’t afford any of these things, children will be forced to drop out.
Your support will ensure that a child never misses school because their parents can’t afford it.

In 2019, regular school attendance among sponsored children rose from 5% to 100%

SICKNESS

All children get sick. However, in Uganda, children get sick more than most. Your sponsorship enables families to earn money to pay for medicine and clinic bills. By providing access to clean water, training in health and hygiene, and training in HIV/AIDS prevention, illness and disease are dramatically reduced.

In 2019, incidence of sponsored children regularly being ill enough to miss school dropped from 60% to 0%

ABUSE

40% of Ugandan girls are married before they are 18. Many children live in fear of early marriage and abuse. Through sponsorship, your child’s carers will be supported, domestic violence reduces, and family harmony improves. What’s more, families are incentivised to keep their daughters in school for longer, rather than having to keep them at home to work or marrying them off.

In 2019, reports of domestic violence dropped by 93%. More girls were able to stay in school, meaning that they and their families have a greater chance of thriving in the future.
