Conflict Resolution is woven through the fabric of life at Amigos.  From training on Kira Farm Development Centre, to the conservation farming groups in rural communities, conflict resolution is a key part of our work.

We believe in holistic transformation.  On Kira Farm, many trainees arrive having experienced conflict and abuse.  Through our restorative justice programme, they learn tools to accept what they have experienced, and to heal broken relationships in their families and communities.

I used to feel insecure, hopeless and without any direction for my life but after participating in programmes at Kira aimed at restoring what was lost and becoming strong, I regained my confidence. I learnt about conflict resolution, working with the community, being accountable for my actions and understanding my role in the community. I learnt how to work and deal with other people from different backgrounds, and I have applied these lessons even in my workshop with my team and customers.

In rural areas, Amigos comes alongside communities to support them in identifying challenges holding them back as well as opportunities for the future.  As these are identified, it is clear that alongside conservation farming techniques and clean water, conflict resolution and growth mindset training are also key to communities thriving into the future.

Apart from the bumper harvests, the project has brought peace and unity among the community farming group members and their families. We pray together, acknowledge God in everything that we do and are seeing that change comes from the inside out.

The war left us with big wounds that will take time to heal and I have hope that this project will bring tremendous impact in the life of many people in this community.

With conflict resolution being such a vital part of Amigos’ story, we are looking forward to our upcoming event ‘Healing and Harmony’.  This free event will give a further insight into this area of our work, a chance to hear powerful stories and the opportunity to talk directly with a member of our Uganda team.  We hope you can join us.  Find out more and sign up, here.
